Lisa
with Hannah (tease mare). Lisa began riding at 7 years old. Like most junior riders she started out in the world of Hunters/Jumpers. Lisa became interested in Dressage at 15. When it was time for her to start her college education Lisa sold her horse. Finding a void in her life she started working at the NCSU Equine Education Reproduction Unit. Lisa was surprised how interested she became in reproduction breeding and foaling. In the spring of 2002 Lisa became an intern in the Educational Reproduction course. This program is an intensive hands on learning experience. This is designed to give the students all the skills and knowledge necessary to manage or assist on a breeding farm. It was during Lisa's
internship that she met Suzin Daly and her Swedish Warmblood Stallion
L.A. Baltic Sundance. Suzin has brought Sundance
to the Reproduction Unit during his breeding season for three years. Lisa
had collected Sundance during his breeding season of 2002. With
the increase of bookings for Sundance, it became clear to Suzin that a
need for a breeding facility at Halifax Farm would be necessary. With
Lisa's experience with Sundance she was asked to be advisor at the new
Halifax Farm Stallion Station. Suzin felt that Lisa would be
the perfect person for this new endeavor. Both Lisa and Suzin are
very excited about the new facility. Lisa is currently a Junior at NC State. She is gearing up to complete another internship for the 2003 breeding season at the Reproduction Educational Unit. Lisa's future plan is to attend the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine following her undergraduate experience. Her goal at this time is to become an Equine Reproductive Veterinarian and a breeder of Warmblood Sport Horses. Lisa supervises a practice collection |
