Blue xx by
Electric Blue xx
Owner/breeder: Caroline Berry
Zebulon, NC
May,
2004. Caroline
reports he has started his training under saddle. He is very smart and
easy to work with. Bates looks more like his sire as he matures.
Baltic
Blue, nickname Bates. Bates
at 5 months at the Swedish Inspection was very impressive. Bates was second
to the highest scoring foal at the North Carolina Inspection. Bates received
8 on gaits. He is a large colt of modern type.
News from Caroline," He is very bold and fearless. He
stands cross tied for thorough brushing & hoof picking. I laid Duncan's
saddle pad on his back, then sacked him out. He was nothing more than
interested. I'm really thrilled with his temperament. His canter is floating
and I can't wait to ride him."

"I
haven't written you in a while about Bates, mostly because not a
lot is happening. If this weather ever breaks maybe he and I will get
back to work! He is doing fine. He's already got a bigger muscle
and bone structure than my Thoroughbreds. He fits in a cob size bridle
already and wears a size 72" blanket. (Which, I might add, he is
being very nice about.) My Thoroughbreds are very polite, so he
is too (mostly) even though I think it kills him. He needs a job! I have
a call in to Grady Creech to get restarted. When we left off, Bates had
his first long-lining lesson and was a star. When we had a good day a
couple of weeks ago I took Bates up to the ring and did a little elementary
longeing after reviewing our Grady ground lessons and he was letter perfect.
I have to free longe him first, though, so he can let off some steam and
pay attention to me. Anyway, I'm also going to bring him to a couple of
shows this year and get a stall and walk him around so he can see the
sights. He's very sensitive to touch, but he's really not very spooky
at all. He'll walk over stuff on the ground, etc. w/out batting an eyelash."
